Its a good thing The Last Full Measure isnt going to be winning the Oscar for best picture next year, because there are so many producers and executive producers credited (27, count 'em — 27) they might not all fit on the same stage. But theres no danger of that, as this Vietnam War-themed drama is one of the dullest movies made about that oft-dramatized conflict, a solemn effort at consecrating the true-life bravery of a young American soldier who sacrificed himself while saving the lives of upwards of 60 men caught like rats in a trap. This early-in-the-year release, which was shot in 2017, should fare better on home screens, where older viewers unlikely to track it down in theaters can soak in its sincere and patriotic bromides. Whatever else might be said about them, Vietnam War-based films are not normally dull. But writer-director Todd Robinson, whose script for Ridley Scotts 1996 boating drama White Squall remains his best-known credit, has managed to turn this tribute to a verifiable hero into a plodding, somnolent snooze. Every impulse behind the pic seems engineered to embalm the memory of a young man whose selfless efforts were expended under terrible duress, the kind of extreme circumstances that films can better capture than any other form of media. Uncommonly good-looking Pentagon staffer Scott Huffman (Sebastian Stan) is approached, in 1999, to see what can be done to, at long last, have the late Big Red One pararescueman William H. Pitsenbarger bestowed with the Medal of Honor for his life-saving efforts on a jungle battleground on April 11, 1966; his heroic and selfless acts are estimated to have saved at least 60 American lives that day. Its an effort instigated by the late soldiers father (Christopher Plummer) and mother (Diane Ladd) as well as by an army cohort, Tulley (William Hurt. Huffmans initial efforts to line up support involve tracking down some of the mans fellow grunts, who include Takoda (Samuel L. Jackson) whos never been the same since the incident, and old souls played by Ed Harris, John Savage and, in his final role, Peter Fonda. The latter two actors in particular possess cinematic associations with Vietnam and the counterculture that trigger welcome reverberations in this context but, of the supporting players, Bradley Whitford does the most to enliven things when hes on. Built like an onion in order to be peeled back, layer by layer, so as to methodically reveal the events of the fateful day in all its pain and horror, the film doesnt take a clear-cut political stance except for a blandly generalized patriotism. More than anything, it seems to want to honor the bravery and experiences of the men who served, while also noting the uselessness of it all and, even moreso, the permanent damage it did to those who came home to find that both they and the country had changed, in ways that served neither well. Still, this is hardly news, and it cant be said that The Last Full Measure has anything particularly insightful, interesting or fresh to add to a subgenre filled with far more striking and provocative works. The pic tries to make hay with the revelation of why Pitsenbarger was denied any honors by the government for so many decades, for reasons which in the end seem mean-spirited, childish and unwarranted. If it succeeds in one respect, its in honoring not just those who made the ultimate sacrifice that ill-begotten day, but in spotlighting how the men who survived the incident really never recovered and were destined to be haunted by events that lasted just a few hours for the rest of their lives. Robinson habitually stresses the obvious in his storytelling, and the director never fully delineates how and why the military disaster on that April day unfolded as it did. The way the fighting is staged clarifies this not at all, nor do the men discuss it in any helpful manner. The ending suggests that hes far more interested in pulling silly heartstrings than in really trying to get to the bottom of things. DAYTON – The National Air Force Museum Theatre was packed with local community members who were eager to see the story of one hometown hero come to life on the big screen on Thursday night. The Air Force Museum Foundation hosted a special screening of “The Last Full Measure, ” a movie inspired by the story of Piqua native Airman 1st Class William H. Pitsenbarger, an Air Force pararescue specialist who saved the lives of members of the U. S. Armys 1st Infantry Division in one of the harshest battles of the Vietnam War. Offered the chance to escape on the last helicopter out of the combat zone, Pitsenbarger stayed behind to save and defend the lives of others. He first received the Air Force Cross before it was upgraded to a Congressional Medal of Honor 34 years after his death on that battlefield. He was also posthumously promoted to staff sergeant. Julian Adams, producer and co-star in the film, attended the screening on Thursday, saying he spent the last 20 years working on making this movie a reality. Adams, whose father was in the Air Force, has a passion for military films, having also produced and co-starred in “Phantom, ” a submarine thriller about a Russian submarine attempting to launch a nuclear missile at Pearl Harbor, set in 1968. “Hes a hero to me, ” Adams said. Adams noted the “hometown crowd, ” recognizing the Pitsenbarger family members and local Piqua residents in attendance, as well as honoring the Vietnam veterans and other veterans who were also at the screening. After graduating in 1962 from Piqua Central High School, Pitsenbarger joined the Air Force and later flew on nearly 300 combat rescue missions in Vietnam. “The Last Full Measure” follows the story of a group of Army and Air Force veterans who advocated for Pitsenbarger to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor over 30 years after his death. The film also portrays the events that happened during the battle near Cam My in Vietnam on April 11, 1966, where Pitsenbarger risked his life coordinating rescue efforts and was later killed after he stayed on the ground to continue performing medical duties, helping the infantrymen get ammunition, and even return fire when he could. The movie refers to this battle as Operation Abilene, and those scenes of the movie were shot in Thailand. While aspects of “The Last Full Measure” were dramatized for the purpose of streamlining the story for the movie, Adams noted that many of the lines of the veterans in the movie were direct quotes from the men from the Charlie Company (2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division) who advocated on behalf of Pitsenbarger to receive the Medal of Honor. One such quote was from F. David Peters of the Charlie Company, who said, “There was only one man on the ground that day that would have turned down a ride out of that hellhole — and that man was Pitsenbarger. ” “These were verbatim from talking to these guys, ” Adams said. A number of men from the Charlie Company were also incorporated into the movie, having cameos during the Medal of Honor ceremony at the end of the movie. One of the main characters of the movie, Scott Huffman, is a fictional Pentagon investigator who was played by Sebastian Stan of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier. ” Huffman was based on the real-life historian Parker Hayes, who helped document the accounts of the veterans who had served with Pitsenbarger and helped seek a formal reconsideration for Pitsenbarger to receive the Medal of Honor. Hayes passed away in August 2009 at the age of 36 before the movie was finished. “This film is exceptional, ” Chief Master Sgt. John Nolan Pitsenbarger of the U. Air Force, and fifth cousin to William H. Pitsenbarger, said. “I feel very close to William tonight. ” “This story is obviously very emotional, ” Adams said. Adams said the goal of the movie was to honor veterans in addition to telling Pitsenbargers story. While the movie was originally set to be released in October by Roadside Attractions, the release date has been pushed back to January in order to release it to a wider audience and hold more special screenings at military bases. Adams said the writer and director of the film, Todd Robinson, first introduced him to Pitsenbargers story after Pitsenbarger was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. The men who were there to witness Pitsenbargers actions then became part of Adams motivation to pursue this movie for 20 years “This was a guy who didnt know these men and gave his life for them, ” Adams said. “He was a 21-year-old kid, and look at what he did. ” The cast includes a number of popular actors, such as Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Takoda, one of the veterans from the 1st Infantry Division, and Christopher Plummer, who portrays Pitsenbargers father, Frank Pitsenbarger. Ed Harris of “Westworld” portrays another veteran of the 1st Infantry Division saved by Pitsenbarger. While it was previously reported that William Pitsenbarger was going to be portrayed by Grant Gustin of “The Flash, ” Pitsenbarger actually ended up being played by Jeremy Irvine, who is known for movies like “War Horse” and “The Railway Man. ” When an audience member asked how the movie was able to get such popular actors to appear in the film, Adams said the actors connected with the human stories of the film. “The Last Full Measure” was also the last film Peter Fonda, who played Jimmy Burr, appeared in before he passed away in August. No. The Last Full Measure true story reveals that during his junior year at Piqua Central High School in Ohio, Pitsenbarger tried to join the U. S. Army to become a Green Beret but his parents wouldn't give their permission. Having to wait until he graduated, William H. Pitsenbarger decided to join the Air Force instead. He was sent to San Antonio for basic training in late 1962. It was there that he decided to volunteer for Pararescue. He qualified immediately and was sent to pararescue training right out of basic. Upon completion of his training, he headed to Hamilton AFB in California to become part of the Rescue Squadron stationed there. The real William H. While researching The Last Full Measure fact vs. fiction, we learned that the movie was filmed in Thailand, which stood in for Vietnam. Other locations included Costa Rica, Atlanta, D. C. and Los Angeles. Actor Dale Dye, a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, was one of several advisors on the film. Dye also portrays Senator Holt in the movie. How did Charlie Company end up pinned down by the Viet Cong? The Battle of Xa Cam My unfolded from April 11–12, 1966. The original intention was to lure the Viet Cong out by sending in Charlie Company alone as bait. Two other nearby rifle companies would then arrive to overtake and destroy the Viet Cong. This was part of a larger search and destroy mission known as Operation Abilene. The companies moved in a formation, with Charlie Company on one end. However, Charlie Company had drifted from the formation. While moving through the Courtenay Rubber Plantation, Charlie Company encountered Viet Cong snipers and was soon encircled by the enemy. The other companies that were supposed to arrive as reinforcements were too far away and were slowed as they moved through the thick jungle. Thus, Charlie Company found itself in a dire situation. Some of the men of Charlie Company, which suffered heavy losses during the Battle of Xa Cam My. Is the helicopter used in the movie the same helicopter that Pits flew on in real life? No. The helicopters seen in The Last Full Measure movie are Hueys (Bell UH-1 Iroquois. The real helicopter that Pitsenbarger arrived on during the battle was the Kaman HH-43F Huskie (nicknamed "Pedro" for its call sign moniker. Writer and director Todd Robinson admits that this is one of the movie's biggest deviations from the true story. He says they chose to use Hueys over Pedros because of the scarcity of the latter and the cost of transporting them to Thailand. -Air Force Magazine One of the movie's biggest errors is the use of Huey helicopters (bottom) instead of Pedros (top) which Pitsenbarger flew on in real life during the Battle of Xa Cam My. How did pararescueman William H. Pitsenbarger become involved in the Battle of Xa Cam My? Pararescueman William H. Pitsenbarger flew more than 250 rescue missions during the Vietnam War. On April 11, 1966, his day off, he volunteered to board one of two Kaman HH-43F Huskie helicopters dispatched to extract a half-dozen or so wounded soldiers pinned down in a firefight near Cam My, a rural area of Vietnam located 35 miles east of Saigon. "I saw the guy coming down through the trees. says Army infantryman Johnny Libs, and I said 'What is he doin' comin' down here. We were really in a mess on that ground and he stayed there and helped us. Pitsenbarger immediately began tending to the wounded men on the ground. He managed to get nine of them loaded onto helicopters via a cable over the course of three flights. He would remain on the ground with 20 other soldiers while the two Air Force Huskie helicopters flew the wounded to an aid station and came back for more. Pararescueman William Pitsenbarger helped get nine wounded men hoisted into the helicopters, saving their lives. When one of the helicopters was lowering its litter basket to Pitsenbarger, it was hit by enemy small arms fire and its engine began to lose power. Instead of landing the helicopter in the middle of the battle (or crashing on top of American soldiers) the pilot knew he had to get the helicopter to safety. Pitsenbarger could have climbed into the litter basket and tried to leave with the helicopter, but he chose to stay and help the infantrymen on the ground (the pilot admitted he's not sure if he could have lifted Pitsenbarger out. He tended to the wounded, fashioning splints out of vines and constructing makeshift stretchers from saplings. He gathered ammo from the fallen, giving it to the men who were running low. He then grabbed a rifle and fought with the men to hold off the Viet Cong. It's true that Pitsenbarger waved off his potential lift out. "He came there to save lives. says Army mud soldier and Purple Heart recipient Fred Navarro, and that is what he was doin. How badly were the Americans outnumbered in the Battle of Xa Cam My? The Last Full Measure true story confirms that the Viet Cong outnumbered the Americans roughly 500 to 134. Were Pitsenbarger's actions on the ground really that heroic? Yes. On five or six occasions, men saw Pitsenbarger run beyond the perimeter, grab a wounded soldier, and bring him back to save him. He was wounded at least twice but kept going. Did Pitsenbarger hide a wounded soldier by covering him with two dead bodies? Yes. During the battle, the Viet Cong would sneak inside the perimeter and kill the wounded. While examining The Last Full Measure fact vs. fiction, we confirmed that Pitsenbarger pulled two dead bodies over a wounded soldier named Fred Navarro and told him to stay down. Navarro watched as Pitsenbarger took his first bullet. Was William H. Pitsenbarger killed by Viet Cong snipers? Yes. After choosing to remain on the ground and fight with the embattled soldiers, Pitsenbarger was wounded at least twice and then shot and killed by Viet Cong snipers later that night. While investigating the movie's historical accuracy, we learned that when the U. Army found his body the following day, he was still clutching his rifle in one hand and holding his medical kit in the other. There was a bullet hole in the forehead of the gas mask he was wearing. Charlie Company had formed a tight perimeter and was protected by artillery fire, which reined down at a frequency of five or six rounds every minute. Realizing that American reinforcements would likely arrive soon, the Viet Cong retreated and left the area. B Company arrived by morning, and once it was light, American helicopters returned to extract the casualties. How many American soldiers were lost in the Battle of Xa Cam My? Our fact-check revealed that 80 percent of the 134 soldiers in Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment were either wounded or killed by the end of the battle, which was fought over two days, beginning on the afternoon of Monday, April 11, 1966. 34 American soldiers were killed in action and 71 were wounded. Some of the wounded would die later from their injuries. The Battle of Xa Cam My is considered to be one of the most catastrophic battles of the Vietnam War. The Viet Cong reportedly left 41 dead on the field of battle and it is estimated that they removed more than 80 dead and wounded. Was Pitsenbarger denied the Medal of Honor because of a conspiracy to keep a friendly-fire incident classified? This is one of the reasons that the movie implies could have led to the Medal of Honor being denied. There was indeed a friendly-fire incident during the Battle of Xa Cam My (April 11–12, 1966. Charlie Company had formed a circular perimeter as they tried to hold off the Viet Cong who were surrounding them. As the perimeter began to break down and the situation grew direr, things became more chaotic when an American artillery unit mistakenly fired on them, which resulted in American deaths (it is not known who gave the unit the incorrect coordinates. Some of the artillery fire hit the tops of the trees, causing spear-like pieces to rain down on them. The Last Full Measure 's friendly-fire incident is based on a real incident involving an artillery unit that mistakenly fired on Charlie Company's location during the battle. In the movie, Ed Harris' character, veteran Ray Mott, states, It was friendly fire. We were fightin' our own men. This seems to be a bit misleading since The Last Full Measure true story involved friendly artillery fire that struck their location. They weren't "fighting" their own men. The movie does clarify that it was an incident involving artillery fire, which it depicts in flashbacks. The movie's conspiracy theory that a friendly-fire incident directly affected Airman First Class William Pitsenbarger from initially not receiving the Medal of Honor seems unlikely. We do know that Pitsenbarger's commanding officer in the Air Force immediately recommended him for the Medal of Honor, but Pitsenbarger was instead given the next highest honor for valor, the Air Force Cross (the highest honor awarded by the Air Force. The Army general who recommended the honor be downgraded said there wasn't enough documentation at the time to get an accurate picture of Pitsenbarger's heroic actions. It's possible that this is the true story, especially given that the soldiers who were there did not stay in touch and ended up scattered around the globe. They didn't reconnect until decades later after the evolution of the Internet. Further disproving the movie's assertion is the fact that another soldier who fought and died in the 1966 battle, Sgt. James W. Robinson, Jr., received the Medal of Honor in 1967, the following year. Something more accurately focused on in the movie is the possibility that the Medal of Honor was denied in part because it was an Army operation and Pitsenbarger was part of the Air Force. As stated in the film, the Air Force wasn't supposed to be there. They volunteered to go in when the Army helicopter pilots refused because the area was too hot. Acknowledging Pitsenbarger's actions wouldn't exactly make the Army look good. If there was a conscious effort to deny the medal, this was most likely the reason. However, there's no evidence to support this theory either. The movie's government conspiracy around the friendly-fire incident is dramatized and based only on rumors. There were thousands of friendly-fire incidents in Vietnam (some estimates are as high as 8, 000) and many were much worse than Cam My. In real life, there was only a rumor that the Army squelched the paperwork because they were embarrassed over the battle. In the least, the controversy has been overdramatized for the movie, which tasks an almost entirely fictional Pentagon staffer (portrayed by Sebastian Stan) with unraveling the conspiracy. Is Pentagon investigator Scott Huffman a real person? No. In the movie, Pentagon mid-level bureaucrat Scott Huffman leads the fight to get Pitsenbarger reconsidered for the Medal of Honor. There was no real-life Huffman. In analyzing The Last Full Measure fact vs. fiction, we discovered that the fictional character was only loosely inspired by the late historian Parker Hayes, who while working as a curator and historical writer at the Airmen Memorial Museum in Maryland from 1997 to 1999, wrote a short biography about Pitsenbarger for the museum. You need not enroll in Movie Club in order to use Movie Fan. Movie Club is separate and apart from Movie Fan and is subject to additional Terms and Conditions, as set forth in Section 5 below. You are neither automatically enrolled nor are required to enroll in Movie Club—you will be enrolled only if you elect to do so. Please see below for additional terms and conditions related to Movie Club. Participation: Enrollment, membership, and all related benefits of Cinemark Movie Rewards Program are offered at our discretion. You consent to our collection and use of your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Cinemark reserves the right to unilaterally modify, suspend, or discontinue all or any portion of the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. The financial terms of the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program and certain Rewards, as described below, as subject to change, including for example, for special or limited offers, so check the Movie Rewards page often. You may not sell, exchange, charge or otherwise dispose of any points or Member benefits except in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. Rewards under the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program Members earn 1 point for every dollar spent prior to applicable sales tax. A Member may be able to redeem accrued points for benefits which may include, among other things, tickets, upgrades, discounts, coupons, special offers, screenings, digital downloads and other Member-only benefits (“Reward(s)”. Certain Rewards are offered on a first-come, first-served basis due to limited quantities. Available Rewards are subject to change and may be subject to age-related restrictions solely at our discretion. 3. 1 Earning Points: Points are earned through making purchases on the Site and at participating Cinemark locations. At times, points may be earned via interactions with the Site or Cinemark social media accounts. Points may not be earned or accrued by any deposit or transfer of funds to your Account. In order to qualify to accrue points, you must identify yourself as a Member by presenting your User ID or required information when dealing with the Site and participating Cinemark locations. Points that you accrue as a result of your transactions with the Site and participating Cinemark locations will be posted to your Account. Points will normally be posted to your Account within twenty-four (24) hours from the time of your purchase from the Site or participating Cinemark location, but we do not assume any liability for a failure to do so in a timely manner. You are solely responsible for checking your Account regularly to ensure that your points are properly credited. If proper credit does not appear on your activity statement, you should contact us via the Site and then provide any requested documentation to verify your purchase. We reserve the right to determine whether points should have been posted to your Account and to adjust your Account accordingly. Some Cinemark locations may not participate in the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program. Membership entitles you to earn points only from those Cinemark locations in the United States participating in the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program. We may refuse to record or honor points in your Account, or if already recorded, we may cancel them, if we cannot confirm that they were properly issued or obtained. We may also cancel recorded points if the point-issuing Cinemark location tells us to cancel the points (for example, because you returned or did not pay for products or services for which the points were issued. Neither we nor any participating Cinemark location is responsible for any Reward or offer which is no longer in effect. If you believe that any Account summary showing the number of points in your Account is in error, you must notify the point-issuing Cinemark location, or contact us through, within thirty (30) days of the date the point was or should have been issued or it will be deemed correct. You may be required to submit documentation (such as receipts) to support your claim. Members are responsible for emailing [email protected] to request points be added back for accidental redemption. However, we do not guarantee that points will be added back as requested. Points are not redeemable for cash. Points are not eligible for re-sale or exchange. Points may not be used towards the purchase of a Gift Card or alcohol. There is a 24-hour daily points cap operating as follows: a maximum of 500 points or points on a maximum of 10 transactions may be earned within a 24-hour period. Points may be earned for restaurant purchases, excluding alcohol, at participating Cinemark locations. The Cinemark Movie Rewards Program points are not redeemable for discounts wherever prohibited by state law, including, for example, for alcoholic beverages, dairy, etc. Alcohol and gift card purchases are ineligible to earn points. However, points can be earned for purchases using a gift card. Points are awarded based on the pre-tax subtotal of your transaction. The value of points given will be equivalent to the pre-tax dollar value of your purchase, rounded up to the nearest whole dollar for all transactions with 49 cents or less in change and rounded down to the nearest whole dollar for all transactions with a change of 50 cents or more. Points earned for purchasing an advance ticket are placed in a “pending status” basket until the showtime has passed. If the ticket has not been refunded, the points will be added to the Account. If the ticket has been refunded, the points will be removed from the “pending status” basket and not added to the Account. 3. 2 Adjustments: In the case of any failure by you to follow these Terms and Conditions or any other fraud or abuse related to the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program, including but not limited to your engaging in a pattern of returning or canceling products or services after the corresponding points have been credited, as determined by us in our sole discretion, we reserve the right to make any adjustments to your Account at any time and to take appropriate administrative or legal action. In such a case, some or all of your points earned through Movie Fan may be forfeited and your Account closed, and we reserve the right to seek reimbursement from you for the cost of any Reward you received upon redemption of points that are subsequently deducted from your Account. 3. 3 Redemption of Points; Rewards: Rewards are offered on a first-come, first-served basis due to limited quantities. Rewards will be removed from the “Rewards Carousel” once the limited capacity is met. We assume no liability for any delay in the removal of Rewards having met capacity. To redeem points to receive Rewards, you must log in to your Account. On the Movie Rewards Program Page in the Site, available Rewards will appear in the “Rewards Carousel. ” Your points will automatically be applied to the transaction when you click “Redeem. ” Once you have redeemed points, you must follow any additional instructions appearing on the Rewards page in order to receive your Reward. Rewards may at times be provided by film studios. In these situations, the studios and not Cinemark control the nature, amount, and timing of the Rewards. Points redeemed are applied on a first in, first out basis. Members can redeem applicable number of points for 2D movie tickets (“Movie Ticket Reward”) as part of the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program. Upcharges may apply for any non-2D or premium format tickets. Movie Ticket Rewards issued to Movie Fan members will expire 90 days after issuance and will no longer be valid. Movie Ticket Rewards issued to Movie Club members will never expire so long as the member retains active Movie Club status. Should a Member cancel his/her Movie Club membership, Movie Ticket Rewards will expire 6 months from the date of cancellation. If a ticket purchased using a Movie Ticket Reward is refunded, the Movie Ticket Reward will revert back to the original expiration date at issuance as applicable to the Movie Fan or Movie Club membership. Movie Ticket Rewards must be used before any Movie Club Credit (defined later) can be used. Members can redeem points for additional XD upgrades, concession discounts, collectible items, digital downloads, sweepstakes/contests and exclusive Member-only sales and events. Points may at times be redeemable for coupons. Each coupon is valid for one item only. There is a limit of one coupon per transaction. The coupon code and barcode must be visible for use. You may upgrade a free concession item to a larger size of the same item if you pay the difference in value between the item as listed on the coupon and the value of the larger sized item. Coupon offers are valid with Cinemarks Annual Refillable Drink Cup and Popcorn Tub when applicable. Unless specified, coupons are not valid with any other promotions or discounts. Concession coupons may be combined with the concession discount available to Movie Club members, but that any coupons will be applied prior to the application of any concession discount. Coupons are not valid for re-sale. Coupons may not be used for free or discounted purchases of alcoholic beverages. Coupons have cash value of 1/100 th of one cent, and are not redeemable for cash or eligible for re-sale or exchanges. Points may at times be redeemable for digital downloads. Upon redemption of points for a digital download, the Member will be provided a code and a link to a third-party site. Use of such links is subject to the provisions of the "Links" section below. Members may at times have access to enter sweepstakes being conducted by Cinemark. Any such sweepstakes will be conducted separate and apart from the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program and governed entirely by its own terms and conditions. Alternate means of entry to any such sweepstakes will be available by visiting the Site. Physical items issued as Rewards may be limited to one Reward per Member. The one-Reward limit applies regardless of the number of points in the Account at the time and immediately after points are redeemed for a given Reward. If points are redeemed for a physical Reward, the item will be fulfilled within 30 days of redemption. If the item received is damaged, the Member must provide photographic documentation of the damage to our guest services department at Contact Us. Points will not be refunded once an item has been sent to the fulfillment center for processing. If an item is proved to be damaged, Cinemark will offer the following: 1) a replacement item of the same type, provided available; 2) a replacement item of a similar type (eg. an Incredibles water bottle replaced by a Jurassic World water bottle. 3) a replacement item of the same or equal retail value. If Member does not accept any of the replacement items, points will be refunded to the Account. The size of Rewards received upon redemption of points is not guaranteed (for example, if the Reward offered is a T-shirt, Cinemark does not guarantee the Member will receive their preferred T-shirt size. Points will not be refunded based on sizing issues. Points will be refunded to the Account if the item has not been delivered within 60 days of redemption. Members may be invited to redeem points for “Birthday Rewards. ” Birthday Rewards are only redeemable one time per twelve-month period. Members must present their User ID and a separate valid form of identification at the time of redemption. Birthday Rewards are subject to change. Points will expire if not redeemed within a twelve-month period. At the time of expiration, all points will be forfeited. Membership is not terminated upon expiration and forfeiture of points, and the Member can continue to accrue points through his/her Account. We will not be taken to have waived any of our rights even if we allow redemption of points or honor Rewards when not required. 3. 4 Discontinuation; Suspension; Account Closure: To be considered active, a Member must have scanned his/her User ID or earned a Reward within the preceding twelve months. We may, in our sole discretion, at any time and without prior notice: i) Discontinue transmitting all or any part of the Content (as defined below) related to the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program; ii) Change, discontinue or limit access to the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program or any functionality, feature or other component of the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program; or (iii) Suspend or terminate your use of or access to your Account, upon giving you notice of such suspension or termination, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms and Conditions. You may elect to close your Account at any time by notifying our guest services department at Contact Us. Upon closure, any rights to redeem points from that Account are lost. 3. 5 Termination, Changes, and Breach: We may change any aspect of the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program including issuing and redemption procedures or any Rewards in any respect, all without notice. For example, but without limitation, we may add, delete or change participating Cinemark locations, time limits for collection, redemption or use of points or Rewards; redemption conditions or procedures; or the value of purchases required for particular Rewards. Any changes will be effective only after the effective date of the change and will not affect any dispute arising prior to the effective date of the change. If: no points are recorded in your Account for twenty-four (24) months; you commit fraud; you misrepresent any information; you violate any Terms and Conditions; you abuse your Cinemark Movie Rewards Program privileges; or you act in any other way to the detriment of us, our participating Cinemark locations, or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program, we may, without affecting our other rights, terminate your enrollment and/or cancel your points and disclose only appropriate information requested by proper authorities. If points expire or are cancelled for any reason, they become void without compensation. You shall not in any event settle any claim without the written consent of Cinemark. 4. 5 Member Obligations; Prohibited Actions: You agree that you will not, and will not permit others to: i) Provide any unauthorized third party with access to the Site, the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program or any information, data, text, links, images, software, chat, communications and other content available through the Internet and proprietary to Cinemark (collectively, Content" by any means; ii) Modify, reverse engineer, reverse assemble decompile, reduce to human perceivable form or create derivative works based on the Site, the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program or any of the software applications used by you in connection with your use of the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program; iii) Engage in any activity that does not comply with U. S. law or other applicable law and regulations (including federal, state and local laws and regulations and regulations of regulatory or administrative organizations) or otherwise engage in any illegal, manipulative or misleading activity through the use of the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program; iv) Disable any licensing or control features of the Site; v) Introduce into the Site or into the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program any virus or other code or routine intended to disrupt the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program, alter or delete its Content, access confidential Content on the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program, retrieve or record information about the Site or its users, or interfere with the operation of the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program, including, but not limited to, distribution of unsolicited advertising or mail messages and propagation of computer worms and viruses; vi) Merge the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program with another program or create derivative works based on the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program; vii) Post any material in any form whatsoever on the Site or within the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program that is defamatory, obscene or otherwise unlawful or violates any third party's right of privacy or publicity; viii) Sublicense, assign, translate, rent, lease, lend, resell for profit, distribute or otherwise assign or transfer the content of or access to the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program to others; viii) Infringe any third party's patent, copyright, service mark, trademark or other intellectual property right of any kind or misappropriate the trade secrets of any third party in connection with your use of the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program, or remove, obscure, or alter any notice of the copyright or other proprietary legends on the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program; or (ix) Otherwise act in a fraudulent, illegal, malicious or negligent manner when using the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program. Except as expressly provided herein, Cinemark reserves all rights with respect to the Site and the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program, and may pursue all legally available options under both civil and criminal laws (and may cooperate with law enforcement agencies) in the event of any violations. You recognize the great value of the goodwill associated with the Site and with the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program and acknowledge that the Site, the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program and all rights therein and goodwill pertaining thereto belong exclusively to Cinemark. You further agree that it is critical that such goodwill be protected and enhanced and, toward this end, you shall not during the term of your membership in the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program or thereafter: i) Attack the title or any rights of Cinemark in or to the copyrights, trademark, and other intellectual property in the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program; ii) Do anything either by an act of omission or commission which might impair, violate or infringe the copyright, trademarks, and other intellectual property in the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program; iii) Claim (adversely to Cinemark or anyone claiming rights through Cinemark) any right, title or interest in or to the copyright, trademarks, and other intellectual property in the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program; iv) Misuse or harm the copyright, trademarks, and other intellectual property in the Site or Movie Rewards or bring the Site or the Cinemark Movie Rewards Program into disrepute; v) For its benefit, directly or indirectly, register or apply for registration of Cinemarks trademarks or any mark which is, in Cinemarks reasonable opinion, the same as or confusingly similar to any of Cinemarks trademarks; and/or (vi) For its benefit, directly or indirectly, register, maintain or apply for registration of a domain name which is, in Cinemarks reasonable opinion, the same as, confusingly similar to or incorporates any of the Cinemarks trademarks. 4. 6 Copyright; Trademarks: Cinemark, or the applicable third party owner, retains all right, title and interest to and under all patents (including all reissues, divisions, continuations and extensions of such patents) patent applications, trademarks, trademark registrations service marks, trademark registration applications, trade names, domain names, all other names and slogans embodying business, product or service goodwill, copyrights, computer software, specifications, data, designs, trade secrets, technology, diagnostic tools, inventions, know-how, processes and confidential and proprietary information and any other intellectual property or other right, in all information and content (including all text, data, graphics, and logos) on the Site and the Movie Rewards Page. Except as provided in these Terms and Conditions, you are strictly prohibited from modifying, copying, transmitting, distributing displaying, performing, reproducing, publishing, licensing, framing, creating derivative works from, transferring or otherwise using in any other way for commercial or public purposes, in whole or in part, any information, text graphics, images, video clips, directors, databases, listing or software obtained from the Site or the Movie Rewards Page without the prior written consent of Cinemark. Systematic retrieval of content from the Site or the Movie Rewards Page to create or compile, directly or indirectly, a collection, compilation, database or directory (whether through robots, spiders, automatic devices or manual processes) or creating links to the Site or the Movie Rewards Page without written permission from Cinemark is strictly prohibited. Nothing on the Site or the Movie Rewards Page shall be interpreted as granting, by implication, estoppel, or otherwise, any license or right to use any image, trademark, logo or service mark on the Site or the Movie Rewards Page. Unless otherwise specified, the Site and the Movie Rewards Page are for your personal and non-commercial use only and you may print, copy and download any information or portion of the Site or the Movie Rewards Page for your personal use only. Copying or downloading material from the Site or the Movie Rewards Page does not transfer title to any material on the Site or the Movie Rewards Page to you. Cinemark reserves all rights to copyright and trademark ownership of its material at the Movie Rewards Page and will enforce such rights to the full extent of the law. 4. 7 Social Media Features: The Site, including the Movie Rewards Page, may provide certain social media features that enable you to: Link certain content on the Site to certain third-party websites. Send emails or other communications with certain content, or links to certain content, on the Site. Cause limited portions of content on the site to be displayed or appear to be displayed on your own or certain third-party websites. You may use these features solely as they are provided by us, solely with respect to the content they are displayed with, and otherwise in accordance with any additional terms and conditions we may provide with respect to such features. You agree to cooperate with us in causing any unauthorized framing or linking to cease immediately. We reserve the right to withdraw without notice any linking permission. We may disable all or any social media features and any links at any time, without notice, in our discretion. 4. 8 Privacy; Collection and Use of Certain Information: These Terms and Conditions incorporate our Privacy Policy. 4. 9 Passwords: When this Agreement has been accepted and agreed to by you, the password that you create will soon be activated and enable you to access your Account. Todd Robinson's upcoming Vietnam War drama, The Last Full Measure, is a story of two battles: One takes place during an ambush in the jungles of Vietnam in 1966, while the other unfolds more than three decades later as the survivors fight to see one pararescueman's valor posthumously recognized. On April 11, 1966, Airman 1st Class William H. Pitsenbarger (played by Jeremy Irvine) responded to a call to evacuate casualties belonging to a company with the Army's 1st Infantry Division near Cam My during a deadly ambush, the result of a search and destroy mission dubbed Operation Abilene. In the ensuing battle, the unit suffered more than 80 percent casualties as their perimeter was breached. Despite the dangers on the ground, Pitsenbarger refused to leave the soldiers trapped in the jungle and waved off the medevac chopper, choosing to fight, and ultimately die, alongside men he'd never met before that day. Decades later, those men fought to see Pitsenbarger's Air Force Cross upgraded to the Medal of Honor. On Dec. 8, 2000, they won, when Pitsenbarger was posthumously awarded the nation's highest decoration for valor. The Last Full Measure painstakingly chronicles that long desperate struggle, and the details of the battle are told in flashbacks by the soldiers who survived the ambush, played by a star-studded cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, and William Hurt. After Operation Abilene, some of the men involved moved on with their lives, or tried to, and the film touches on the many ways they struggled with their grief, trauma, and in the case of some, feelings of guilt. For the characters in The Last Full Measure, seeing Pitsenbarger awarded the Medal of Honor might be the one decent thing they pull out of that war, remarks Jackson's character, Lt. Billy Takoda, one of the soldier's whose life Pitsenbarger saved. There are a lot of threads to follow in The Last Full Measure, individual strands of a larger story that feel misplaced, redacted, or cut short — at times, violently. But this is not a criticism, quite the opposite in fact. This tangled web is part of the larger narrative at play as Scott Huffman, a fictitious modern-day Pentagon bureaucrat played by Sebastian Stan, tries to piece together what actually happened that fateful day so many years ago. At the start, Huffman — the person who ultimately becomes Pitsenbarger's champion in Washington — wants nothing to do with the airman's story, the medal, or the Vietnam veterans who want to see his sacrifice recognized. For Huffman, it's a burdensome assignment, just one more box to check before he can move on to brighter and better career prospects. Not surprising then that Pentagon bureaucrats and Washington political operators are regarded with skepticism throughout the movie. When Takoda first meets Huffman, the Army vet grills the overdressed and out-of-his-depth government flack about his intentions, calls him an FNG (fucking new guy) and tosses Huffman's recorder into the nearby river where he's fishing with his grandkids. Sebastian Stan stars as Scott Huffman alongside Samuel Jackson as Billy Takoda in "The Last Full Measure. IMDB) As Huffman spends more time with the grunts who fought alongside Pitsenbarger, and the Air Force PJs who flew with him that day, he, and the audience, come to see their campaign, and their frustration over the lack of progress, in a different light. In one of the movie's later moments, The Last Full Measure offers an explanation for why Pitsenbarger's award languished for so long. The theory? Pitsenbarger's Medal of Honor citation was downgraded to a service cross, not because his actions didn't meet the standard associated with the nation's highest award for valor, but because his rank didn't. "The conjecture among the Mud Soldiers and Bien Hoa Eagles is that Pitsenbarger was passed over because he was enlisted. Robinson, who wrote and directed The Last Full Measure, told Task & Purpose. "As for the events in the film, Pitsenbarger's upgrade was clearly ignored for decades and items had been lost — whether that was deliberate is up for discussion but we feel we captured the spirit of the issues at hand either way. he said. "Some of these questions are simply impossible to answer with 100% certainty as no one really knows. " The cynicism in The Last Full Measure is overt, but to be entirely honest, it feels warranted. While watching the film, I couldn't help but think back to recent stories of battlefield bravery, like that of Army Sgt. 1st Class Alwyn Cashe, who ran into a burning Bradley three times in Iraq to pull out his wounded men — a feat of heroism that cost him his life, and inspired an ongoing campaign to see Cashe awarded the Medal of Honor. There's no shortage of op-eds by current and former service members who see the military's awards process as slow and cumbersome at best, and biased or broken at worst, and it's refreshing to see that criticism reflected in a major war movie. And sure, like plenty of military dramas, The Last Full Measure has some sappy moments, but on the whole, it's a damn good film. The Last Full Measure hits theaters on Jan. 24.

Robinson and Executive Producer Sidney Sherman pitched the film idea to more than 50 production companies but none of them were interested in making the movie. Finally Robinson decided to write the script without funding or a studio commitment. [6] After finishing the script Robinson and Sherman continued to search for a studio.
